When you’re planning to build a concrete pad for your backyard, driveway, or any construction project, knowing the cost beforehand is very important. Our Cement Pad Cost Calculator helps you estimate both concrete material costs and labor costs with just a few inputs.

Step 1: Calculate the Volume of the Pad

Volume (cubic feet)=Length×Width×Thickness (in feet)\text{Volume (cubic feet)} = \text{Length} \times \text{Width} \times \text{Thickness (in feet)}Volume (cubic feet)=Length×Width×Thickness (in feet)

Since thickness is usually given in inches, we must convert it to feet:

Thickness (ft)=Thickness (in)12\text{Thickness (ft)} = \frac{\text{Thickness (in)}}{12}Thickness (ft)=12Thickness (in)

Step 2: Convert Cubic Feet to Cubic Yards

There are 27 cubic feet in 1 cubic yard, so:

Volume (cubic yards)=Volume (cubic feet)27\text{Volume (cubic yards)} = \frac{\text{Volume (cubic feet)}}{27}Volume (cubic yards)=27Volume (cubic feet)

Step 3: Calculate Concrete Material Cost

Concrete Cost=Volume (cubic yards)×Cost per cubic yard\text{Concrete Cost} = \text{Volume (cubic yards)} \times \text{Cost per cubic yard}Concrete Cost=Volume (cubic yards)×Cost per cubic yard

Step 4: Calculate Labor Cost

The labor is generally estimated on the area of the pad:

Pad Area (sq ft)=Length×Width \text{Pad Area (sq ft)} = \text{Length} \times \text{Width}Pad Area (sq ft)=Length×Width

Then,

Labor Cost=Pad Area (sq ft)×Labor Cost per sq ft\text{Labor Cost} = \text{Pad Area (sq ft)} \times \text{Labor Cost per sq ft}Labor Cost=Pad Area (sq ft)×Labor Cost per sq ft

Step 5: Calculate Total Cost

Total Cost=Concrete Cost+Labor Cost\text{Total Cost} = \text{Concrete Cost} + \text{Labor Cost}Total Cost=Concrete Cost+Labor Cost

Example Calculation

Let’s take an example with the following values:

  • Length = 20 ft
  • Width = 10 ft
  • Thickness = 4 in
  • Concrete Cost = $135 per cubic yard
  • Labor Cost = $2.50 per sq ft

Step 1: Convert thickness to feet

Thickness (ft)=412=0.333 ft\text{Thickness (ft)} = \frac{4}{12} = 0.333 \, \text{ft}Thickness (ft)=124=0.333ft

Step 2: Find volume in cubic feet

Volume (cubic feet)=20×10×0.333=66.6 ft3\text{Volume (cubic feet)} = 20 \times 10 \times 0.333 = 66.6 \, \text{ft}^3Volume (cubic feet)=20×10×0.333=66.6ft3

Step 3: Convert to cubic yards

Volume (cubic yards)=66.627=2.47 yd3\text{Volume (cubic yards)} = \frac{66.6}{27} = 2.47 \, \text{yd}^3Volume (cubic yards)=2766.6=2.47yd3

Step 4: Concrete cost

Concrete Cost=2.47×135=333.45 USD\text{Concrete Cost} = 2.47 \times 135 = 333.45 \, \text{USD}Concrete Cost=2.47×135=333.45USD

Step 5: Labor cost

Labor Cost=200×2.5=500 USD\text{Labor Cost} = 200 \times 2.5 = 500 \, \text{USD}Labor Cost=200×2.5=500USD

Step 6: Total cost

Total Cost=333.45+500=833.45 USD\text{Total Cost} = 333.45 + 500 = 833.45 \, \text{USD}Total Cost=333.45+500=833.45USD

Final Result

For a 20 ft × 10 ft × 4 in cement pad, with the given rates:

  • Concrete Cost = $333.45
  • Labor Cost = $500
  • Total Cost = $833.45
