Hole Volume Formulas:
• Cylindrical: V = π × r² × h
• Rectangular: V = l × w × d
• Conical: V = (1/3) × π × r² × h
• Spherical: V = (4/3) × π × r³

The Hole Volume Calculator is a simple yet powerful tool that helps you estimate the volume of holes in various shapes including cylindrical, rectangular, conical, and spherical. This is especially useful for excavation, construction, landscaping, or any project where you need to know how much material is being removed or needs to be filled.

Hole Volume Formulas

1. Rectangular Hole Volume

Formula:

V=L×W×HV = L \times W \times HV=L×W×H

Where:

  • LLL = Length
  • WWW= Width
  • HHH = Height (or Depth)
  • VVV = Volume in cubic units

Example:

Let’s say the length is 3 ft, width is 2 ft, and height is 4 ft:

V=3×2×4=24 ft3V = 3 \times 2 \times 4 = 24 \, \text{ft}^3V=3×2×4=24ft3

2. Cylindrical Hole Volume

Formula:

V=πr2hV = \pi r^2 hV=πr2h

Where:

  • rrr = Radius (half of diameter)
  • hhh = Height or Depth

Example:

Diameter = 4 ft → Radius = 2 ft

Height = 5 ft

V=π×(2)2×5=π×4×5=62.83 ft3V = \pi \times (2)^2 \times 5 = \pi \times 4 \times 5 = 62.83 \, \text{ft}^3V=π×(2)2×5=π×4×5=62.83ft3

3. Conical Hole Volume

Formula:

V=13πr2hV = \frac{1}{3} \pi r^2 hV=31πr2h

Where:

  • rrr = Radius (half of diameter)
  • hhh = Height or Depth

Example:

Diameter = 3 ft → Radius = 1.5 ft

Height = 5 ft

V=13π(1.5)2×5=13π×2.25×5=11.78 ft3V = \frac{1}{3} \pi (1.5)^2 \times 5 = \frac{1}{3} \pi \times 2.25 \times 5 = 11.78 \, \text{ft}^3V=31π(1.5)2×5=31π×2.25×5=11.78ft3

4. Spherical Hole Volume

Formula:

V=43πr3V = \frac{4}{3} \pi r^3V=34πr3

Where:

  • rrr = Radius (half of diameter)

Example:

Diameter = 4 ft → Radius = 2 ft

V=43π(2)3=43π×8=33.51 ft3V = \frac{4}{3} \pi (2)^3 = \frac{4}{3} \pi \times 8 = 33.51 \, \text{ft}^3V=34π(2)3=34π×8=33.51ft3
