2. Tension Force in Each Sling (If Load Weight Provided)

The tension (T) in each sling leg is calculated using:

$T = \frac{W}{2 \cdot \sin(\theta)}$

Where:

$W$ = Total load weight
$θ$ = Sling angle

Example Calculation

Scenario:

Height = 10 ft
Width = 8 ft
Load Weight = 2000 lbs

Step 1: Calculate Sling Angle

$\theta = \tan^{-1}\left(\frac{10}{4}\right) = \tan^{-1}(2.5) \approx 68.2°$

Step 2: Calculate Tension per Sling

$T = \frac{2000}{2 \cdot \sin(68.2°)} \approx \frac{2000}{1.856} \approx 1077 \text{ lbs}$

Result:
