- +1: An extra stud is added to account for the end of the wall, as framing requires a stud at both the start and the end.

Let’s assume you have a wall that is 12 feet long and you’re spacing your studs at the standard 16 inches apart. The calculation would look like this

Why the “+1” Is Important
